Cayman Islands Apologises
to Gay Visitor
Cayman Islands: The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism has issued an official apology to a man who was detained by police after publicly kissing his boyfriend at a local bar last week.
Meanwhile, a full investigation is being launched into the incident, where an off-duty officer took tourist Aaron Chandler to the George Town Police Station after he kissed his boyfriend on the dance floor at a popular Seven Mile Beach bar.

We Want Donation
Not Gay Discrimination
Students from campuses throughout Northern Ireland are campaigning today for the National Union of Students – Union of Students in Ireland Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (NUS-USI LGBT) day of action over the ‘gay blood donation ban’.
Hundreds of students are joining the campaign to argue that the current UK National Blood Service’s policy, which bans gay and bisexual men from giving blood for life, is outdated. They are united in calling for a review of the policy.

Alleged Rape of Gay Man
by Peruvian Police
Sparks International Protest
The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) is asking its supporters to write to the authorities in Peru about the handling of a case of alleged rape.
The commission, along with La Libertad GLTB Association from Peru, is trying to bring international pressure to bear in asking for a fair and throughout investigation of Luis Alberto Rojas Marín's case.

Gay Kissing Legal
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) is launching an internal investigation into an off-duty officer’s detainment of a tourist for kissing his boyfriend at a local bar last Wednesday (30 April).
The off-duty officer had warned him not to kiss his partner and, according to Mr Chandler, told him, “It is against the law for two people of the same sex to show displays of affection in public,” but no such law exists in the Cayman Islands Penal Code.
Long-time local lawyer Stephen Hall-Jones confirmed “there is no such charge of public displays of affection. It is unknown to the law“.

Gay Visitors to Eurovision
Threatened by Serbian Fascist Groups
Fascist organizations are promising violence against visitors who come to Belgrade for the Eurovision song contest, scheduled to take place in Belgrade between May 20 and 24, international publications reported recently.
Gay men are a target in particular, according to media which said that the Obraz fascist organisation had published their violent intentions in the daily newspaper ALO! in April.

Berlin Pays Tribute to Gay-Rights
Activist Persecuted by Nazis
Berlin renamed a stretch of the Spree River in honor of a gay-rights activist persecuted by the Nazis in the 1930s as the city's biggest hospital opened an exhibition devoted to the sex researcher.
A stretch of the Spree River in central Berlin was named after gay-rights activist and sexual researcher Marcus Hirschfeld in a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, May 6.

Australian Government Stands
By Ban on Gay Marriage
The Australian government's decision to refuse same-sex marriages has been compared to slavery by gay rights groups.
Last week the Australian government announced more than 100 reforms that will give gay couples the same rights as straight couples.
The move was welcomed by Australia's LGBT community. However, they also questioned the government's decision to maintain the ban on gay marriage.
