First Openly Gay Man Elected
to Public Office in Alabama

The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund has reported that Tuesday night Howard J. Bayless III has become the first openly gay man to hold public office in the state of Alabama, picking up a seat on the Board of Education to represent Birmingham District #3.
