The Empire State could be forced to recognize some same sex marriages. An appeals court ruled last week that gay couple's that marry in Canada and live in New York should receive the same status and benefits as heterosexual couples. The court reversed a judge's earlier ruling that Monroe Community College didn't have to extend health benefits to an employee's lesbian partner.
