New Name and Logo
for the National Association
of LGBT Community Centers
The National Association of LGBT Community Centers (NALGBTCC) today announced it has changed its name to CENTERLINK. The change comes after an intensive, year-long research and design process. A new website will be launched in March that utilizes the new name and new graphic design elements.
NALGBTCC, now CENTERLINK, began over 20 years ago as an informal gathering of leaders from lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community centers attending the National Gay & Lesbian Health Association annual conference. CENTERLINK provided a yearly forum for community centers from around the country to meet and exchange their ideas and experiences.
As CENTERLINK has evolved, it has developed programs and services to assist newly forming community centers and to help strengthen existing LGBT centers. CENTERLINK offers networking opportunities for community center leaders, peer-based technical assistance and training, and a variety of capacity building activities.
Based in Washington, D.C., CENTERLINK is actively involved in policy and legislative issues that affect LGBT communities. The group works with other national LGBT organizations to advance the rights of LGBT individuals and to provide LGBT community centers with information and analysis of key issues and political developments.
CENTERLINK's work is based on core values that include the belief that LGBT community centers are primary change agents in a national movement working toward the liberation and empowerment of LGBT people. CENTERLINK's goal is to develop and harness the power of the 168 (and growing) LGBT community centers in small towns and big cities throughout the United States. These centers are the heart and soul of the LGBT movement in America and are vital to the movement's well-being and dreams for the future.
CENTERLINK was helped by the pro-bono services of Better World Advertising in the creation of the new name and a new logo.
